The key to understanding Revelation is to read it not with a timetable but through seasons that will revolve. Nobody but God knows when the second coming is to happen. We are given signs to let us know its proximity, but we will never know the day or hour it is to come. We find ourselves today in a season of tribulation in the day of grace but not yet in the seven year tribulation period. Through John’s writing of Revelation from an eternal point of view, we are learning what to expect during that time. He begins chapter 8 with a description of what happens as the seventh seal is opened. Following a time of complete silence after the opening, the seven trumpets are sounded. What does the time of silence represent? What does each trumpet bring forth? Could it be what is released is already being fulfilled and we do not know it?
