The Inspiration of  music1music notes 1

“Listen to this, all you people! Pay attention, everyone in the world! High and low, rich and poor—listen! For my words are wise, and my thoughts are filled with insight. I listen carefully to many proverbs and solve riddles with inspiration from a harp.” Psalm 49:1-4

music-notes-2.jpg?w=232&h=244&width=232This psalm caught my attention particularly verse four where it says to solve riddles with inspiration from a harp. Listen carefully to proverbs and allow the inspiration of music to enable you to hear God for answers? Music does seem to inspire us, motivate us and even help to calm us. Many of us listen to music when we are down, we listen to music as we celebrate, we praise the Lord through extended times of worship through music, some of us listen to music while we pray, work, play, there is music on elevators, call waiting on phones, in doctor’s offices and many other places.  Worship music itself can be a prayer and many times God gives us songs of intercession. Some music seems to calm us and allow us to receive revelation in situations. Some music seems to irritate us and make us uneasy.

When Saul troubled by an evil spirit called David to play his harp the evil spirit left Saul. This is intriguing in light of Psalm 49. Music has a powerful effect on us.

I find this verse very interesting and look at it as Lucifer who God originally created to bring him glory. This scripture describes a beautiful creature with precious stones and musical instruments in his body. He was an anointed leader who covers the Lord with praise and stood on the holy mountain of God, created with perfection until he fell. I believe he still uses his creative musical abilities to draw people away from God to himself.

Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying,  “Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre, and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God:

“You were the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The sardius, topaz, and diamond, Beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes Was prepared for you on the day you were created.

“You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones. You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, Till iniquity was found in you.” Ezekiel 28:11 NKJV
