They Told Me To Quit

THEY TOLD ME TO QUIT
by Mario Murillo Ministries

I was told to quit. The person who said this was deeply concerned about my welfare. They made a chilling case for me to go silent while there was still time. They talked about websites with millions of followers that were suddenly wiped out today. They told me that anything I would say would be twisted—and, that not only would I be banned, but they would go after me until they had destroyed my career as a preacher.

I was ready to answer this person, because the Holy Spirit had warned me in advance that they were coming. So now I am going to relate to you what God told me about quitting. God gave me these verses:

Acts 18:9-11, “Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, “Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city.” And he (Paul) continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.”

The fact is that this blog and this ministry can’t be explained in the natural, anyway. Since it was born supernaturally, it will be sustained supernaturally. Not only am I not quitting, I will amplify all the words I receive from the Lord. You can count on that.

God is stands ready to refresh and empower you for a fresh attack on evil.

Isaiah 40 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

Now, I want to speak heart to heart with the remnant of God in America: This is a test. And we are in the worst part of that test. The rage of anti-God social media is out of control, because they feel emboldened to do whatever they want. And because they think Trump is done.

They are raining down shame and accusation on anyone who speaks truth. Nevertheless, we must not fear and we must not fold. Those preachers who cave in to fear, and then abandon their message, will pay a heavy price, not only from shame but also from regret―because they gave up just before the breakthrough.

1 Peter 4:17, “For it is the time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?”

Evil is having its day.

You knew this wasn’t going to be easy. You knew their evil had to have its day. You knew there was no way we could have challenged these devils without unleashing a storm of hatred.

I know that fear can feel irresistible in this storm. I know it is disheartening when you see people you respected—and some of the last people you would have imagined—caving in and recanting their convictions.

But again, this is the worst time to fold. This is the worst time to doubt what God has said to you. Fear is not an option.

Portrait of a young man praying
Compromising with the enemy can be seductive, but it will end in disaster, and, as I said, you will feel deep remorse if the breakthrough comes right after you quit. Can you imagine having to live with that for the rest of your life?

Job 23:10, “He knows the way that I take. When He has tried me, I will come forth as gold, refined in the fire.”

I feel God is imploring us to hang on a little longer. I know how hard it has been! You have heard stories that promised to uncover the truth and turn the tide. Each time they raised our hopes and, when it didn’t happen, it wounded us.

I am not asking you to trust in myths, legends, or conspiracy theories. I am compelling you to trust in God Himself and in His inspired words recorded in the Bible.

Hang in there. The enemy is going to be shocked! Hang in there. There are options we don’t know about. God is going to finish what He started in our great movement!

Hebrews 10:35-39, “Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:

“For yet a little while, and He Who is coming will come and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith;
but if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.” But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.”

We Need Guidance.

We Need Guidance
By: Alan Smith

• John 16:13: But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
We are living in a day in which we must be able to hear from the Holy Spirit like never before. Perhaps the question for all of us is “Can we really handle the truth when we hear it?” The truth is that we are afraid of truth because truth speaks change to our lives, and we don’t always embrace change. We ignore, or sometimes even deny, truth because of our fear of change or confrontation. Why do we stay in denial and run from the truth when the truth can set us free? Could it be that truth ignored is truth lost?

There are so many questions that we must answer within ourselves to move forward with truth in our lives. In John 8:32 Jesus encouraged us to take hold of the truth when He said: Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Perhaps we are waiting for the truth to set us free; but the truth is: truth must be captured and experienced before freedom comes into our lives. Truth is a word that requires action. Why search for truth in the Bible and in various other places, if it only serves to flatter our ears? We must put truth into action and embrace change.

Do you feel stuck in your life? Do you feel there is no where to turn? Do you feel that you are held captive by your circumstances? All three of these questions represent false truths in our lives. Why do we appropriate our faith in these false truths? It is amazing to me how we have more faith for the non-truths than we do for truth. It is imperative that we embrace “real truth”, and it is only then that we will walk in real freedom. The more truth we walk in, the more freedom we will experience in life. If we say no to truth or ignore truth, then truth is lost in that moment of time, and thus, the freedom that came with it. True freedom comes from life; and true life comes from the truth that comes from the Spirit of the Lord.

In the John 16:13 we see that the Holy Spirit comes to us with the purpose of guiding us into all truth. Truth must be very important if this is the mission for which the Holy Spirit was sent. Do you see? He was sent as the Spirit of Truth, our comforter. As the Holy Spirit guides us into truth, He will also comfort us during the changes brought about by truth and during the confrontation with truth. I am encouraged to know that it is possible to live in innumerable truths each day of my life, since the Holy Spirit is guiding me in this fantastic journey. Consider this: when we are living in truth, it is then that we can live in true reality; and only then, that we can move forward in life. New truth awaits anyone who has a teachable spirit.

Let’s explore another possibility. Could revelations of truth be plotted on the map of life’s journey to lead us to our created destination? With the same token, could living a life in non truth equal a created destination of unhappiness, sadness, and much confusion? Truth vs. non-truth: it is our choice, and in choosing, we are choosing the light or the darkness; life or death. So how can we know if someone is speaking truth to us? Let’s look at the following scripture to gain more understanding.
• Eph. 4:15: Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.
First, I can see that whoever has truth to give to another must give it from a heart of love. This indicates to us that truth must be immersed or coated in this love before it can be swallowed. If truth were a spiritual vitamin pill, it would have to have a buffered coating of love to be received into the heart of man. Likewise, as we walk in truth with this coating of love, we will grow more into the likeness of Christ, as He is the example of living in truth coated in love. How can we know this love coating is genuine? Let’s read another verse.
1 Corinthians 13:5-7: Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.
This love is a love that is very happy and full of joy. It rejoices in this new truth that is being given. This love is a love that protects the one who is receiving the new revelation of truth. This love is a love that trusts in the truth that is being given. This love is a love that never loses hope in the truth and what it accomplishes. This love is a love that has a resolve and does not waiver. This love is a love that perseveres and will not give up under the most unbelievable odds. Furthermore, this lovely truth will sometimes cause you to be viewed as an enemy instead of a friend. We can see this in the following verse.
Gal. 4:16: Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?
Truth in love, when it is received by the recipient, causes things to change. This change to our lives is not always received gladly, and it may even cause us to feel uncomfortable. Truth is like a knife unto a surgeon: it will cut and bruise, but healing can then begin. It is the truth that brings us out of darkness into light. Light is what we need to see in this dark world. More light is needed now than ever before.
• Eph. 5:8-10: For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)
We see in the verse above that we were once in darkness. This darkness is a life of living in false truths and of living in denial of real truths. As the Holy Spirit guides us into real truths of reality, we start walking in light. This new-found light brings us into a new world of life and joy. We are encouraged to be children of this light, as it will bring forth a fruit of goodness, righteousness, and more truth. Be blessed this day as we call upon the Holy Spirit to guide us into more truth every day. And may He comfort us as we face the changes that “real truth” will bring into our lives.

Blessings,

Alan

Many of the first colonists to North America were Christians and Jews seeking freedom from religious persecution. Some were Christians who may not have been persecuted, but had a vision for establishing a truly Christian nation in America. These were joined by others who were given a reprieve from prison sentences, and some who had their debts forgiven. There were also some just seeking a new life and adventure, but the common denominator for all was that America represented a new beginning. To this day, this remains the main draw for those who want to come to America.

Even with the great dangers faced by the original colonists in what was a primitive wilderness at the time, the hope of freedom that America represented was worth the risk for those who came. The whole world was still under some form of a feudal system in which everyone was born into a caste or class that was nearly impossible to escape from. For nearly everyone, the major factors of their life down to smallest details was determined for them at birth. However, in America your life could be what you made of it by your own initiative and resourcefulness.

This new world was a major contrast to the old, and in many ways remains so to this day. However, all of the freedoms that have made America like no other nation on earth are under threat today. The question is if we are going to continue to be a true Republic and control our government, or are we going to let it take control of us? Will government be our servant or our master?

The way America was founded and developed resulted in a unique and remarkable spirit in the Americans that became known as “American individualism.” Americans did not see themselves as cogs in a system or subjects of government. They saw themselves as individuals who trusted themselves to know what was best for their own lives. They believed they needed to instruct and guide their government rather than the other way around.

Even though most of the American colonists left something negative to begin a new life in America, they came filled with vision and hope of building a new and better world. They knew it would be hard and dangerous, but the freedom was worth it. Freedom is the oxygen of the brave and the bold, and that’s what Americans became known for, and those are the kind of people it drew from all over the earth.

For over 400 years America was known to be the most positive, visionary place on earth. However, in recent years both polls and studies have named America among the most negative countries in the world! What could have possibly caused this dramatic shift in the basic nature of Americans? Understanding what caused this terrible change is crucial if there is to be a recovery of our faith, vision, and even to remain a sovereign and free nation as many enemies stand ready to subjugate and plunder what has been the most powerful, wealthy nation in history.

The pioneering, resourceful, and overcoming nature prevalent in America from the beginning is now becoming rare. More Americans are expressing a willingness to trade their freedom for more personal security. However, the present chaos in our government, and in our streets, is awakening many Americans to the fact that those who have promised security through their plan of appeasement are the least capable of delivering peace or security. Tyranny always comes in the form of a “bully spirit,” and you can never appease a bully. If you show any weakness, the demands of the bully will be magnified. The only way a bully can be stopped is to stand up to it with a fierce resolve.

The sowing of fear, doubt, and confusion about America as a nation was a planned strategy for wearing out her resolve. It was patiently and systematically spread throughout the land like a deadly spiritual pandemic. To find a cure for any disease we must begin by understanding the disease. This disease has especially attacked our vision and our heart by using “Satan’s cord of three strands,” which we began to address in the last Heritage Brief, Darwinism, Freudian psychology, and Marxism.

America was founded by those with a resolute faith in God, and that He had a specific destiny and purpose for “the new world.” Darwin, Freud, and Marx all attacked faith in God, but also the faith people had in themselves as having been made in God’s image as creative and resourceful. Such clarity was exchanged for a belief that we were only here by random chance, and that the “survival of the fittest” required that the strong rule over the weak. This meant that only the state could be trusted to make decisions for individuals or for humanity in general. Thus, faith in the state and its institutions replaced faith in God.

How has that worked out for us? Any thinking person would challenge the idea that any government in history has been proven worthy of such trust to micro manage our lives and our world as a whole. What government in the world today has even proven able to manage itself?

Studies on U.S. government bureaucracies have shown that from less than 30% to as little as 10% of the resources appropriated to them reach the needs the bureaucracy exists to meet. The rest is consumed by the ever-expanding bureaucracy to feed itself. Such revelations on the nature of modern government is why Reagan stated the obvious truth, “Government is not the answer to our problems—government is the problem!”

We do need government for some things that only government can do, but for all other matters that governments attempt to do has resulted in devastating waste and increasingly oppressive control. The wisdom of our Founders was that government must be limited, and its limits constrained by a Constitution that was “the supreme law of the land.” When government becomes our god so that we put our trust in it instead of God and we begin looking to it as our provider, we begin to lose our own resourcefulness and become increasingly dependent on government. When this happens, government becomes the biggest threat to our liberty and keeps us from being who we were created to be, and who we can be.

It is noteworthy that Darwin, Freud, and Marx have all been debunked by science and their own track records, yet, they continue to be sown into the fabric of American society through public education, the media, and arts and entertainment, as well as members of our own government. The main reason this has been successful is not for what they accomplished, which has been the opposite of what they promised, but it has been because of the power of their propaganda.

This three-pronged attack on our basic humanity was done with characteristic brilliance and subtlety by the devil who has had the experience of trying to destroy God’s work for so many millennia. However, God has an undefeated record, and always will. This ultimate strategy of the devil to remake man in his image while debasing the image of God in man will end up being another brilliant Divine trap for the devil. The God who began a good work in mankind, in America, and many other nations, will complete it. The ultimate victory of light over darkness is certain.

In future Heritage Briefs we will examine how both science and history have debunked Darwin, Freud, and Marx. We will contrast the devil’s strategy with God’s purpose for mankind, for our nation, and for us as individuals.

Leaders who excel are those who motivate to produce excellence through inspiration, not threats or manipulation. Unknown

About our church meetings

Welcome, and thank you for visiting our Weekend Church Discussions online. We are based in Santa Maria Christian Church in Lisbon, one of a few places in Portugal where you can get an English-speaking church service. We have our discussions in a back room right after Friday and Sunday services, so please don’t run away too fast after the last words of our priests!

During our discussions which last no longer than Game of Thrones episode, we discuss latest news, TED talks, and newest books (including Stephen King and Paolo Coelho). Here, we want to create an intimate community where if you show up you belong. We don’t want to tell you what to think or how should you behave, we want to listen to everyone, to hear your opinion and discuss the life around us.
