A Prophetic Perspective

I have recently realized why the authors of our constitution failed to institute term limits for all elected officials. I believe that our constitution was actually inspired by God and the sum of what the founders created is greater than what they could have contributed collectively, however they failed to foresee our current condition because of a couple of basic beliefs. First, I believe that they assumed, given the extreme cost of freedom, the voter participation would never fall to our current rate of 38% of registered voters, an apathetic condition of abdicaton brought on by a feeling of hopelessness. Secondly, I believe they assumed that elected officials would have no motivation for extended service because they saw it as just that, service. I think they assumed that the people who would provide leadership to our country would be those who had their own businesses and farms running in a manner that would allow them to be absent for a period of time that would allow them to employ their problem-solving skills and experience for the good of the populace. I believe that there is a very simple solution for us to move forward in a manner that is directly in keeping with the original foundation principles and still enact the term limits necessary to cleanse our system of corruption. The simple solution for us, the citizens, is to renew our belief in the inspiration of our form of government; repent of our abdication; and turn out to vote to elect no incumbents, period, until our system has been purged of career politicians and been refurbished with the true servants who dedicate themselves to use their leadership and statesmen abilities to bring swift, simple solutions rather than perpetuity of corruption.
