"Afraid to See"

"Afraid to See"

Have you ever been afraid

…of what you might see?

Picture this…

Terrors of the night,

shadows that move in the corner of your eye,

“monsters or dead people” in the closet,

or under the bed.

Afraid of the dark, because you don’t know what you might see there…

Scary stories that play out in your imagination…

…things that seem so real that you think you could actually SEE it with your physical eyes…

Fearing things you think you see with your physical eyes, from catching only a glimpse, and blowing it up in your imagination, tormented and harassed by fear…

You assume you know what you would see if you really dared to look…

But you can’t handle the torment anymore…

and so you hide your eyes,

you distract yourself,

you do anything you can think to do

in order to avoid

looking

and actually seeing

…what you fear.

“Stop it, stop it, stop it! No, no, no! Gotta think of something else, gotta think of something else! Gotta get these images out of my head!”

I lived like this for most of my childhood and into my adult life.

But God…

“…And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”—John 8:32

“You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.”—Psalm 32:7

It is not His desire, that we “live” tormented by fear.

It is not His desire, that we fear what we see, or what we might see!

And so in HIS LIGHT, He gives TRUE sight!

He transforms our fearful, hardened hearts,

He begins cleaning our lenses,

that we might TRULY, and clearly learn to see!

“The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “Now lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward…”—Genesis 13:14

“The man said to me, “Son of man, see with your eyes, hear with your ears, and give attention to all that I am going to show you; for you have been brought here in order to show it to you. Declare to the house of Israel all that you see.”—Ezekiel 40:4

“Then the angel who was speaking with me went out and said to me, “Lift up now your eyes and see what this is going forth.”—Zechariah 5:5

Look among the nations! Observe!
Be astonished! Wonder!
Because I am doing something in your days—
You would not believe if you were told.”—Habakkuk 1:5

“The word of the Lord came to me a second time saying, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a boiling pot, facing away from the north.”—Jeremiah 1:13

“Then the Lord said to me, “What do you see, Jeremiah?” And I said, “Figs, the good figs, very good; and the bad figs, very bad, which cannot be eaten due to rottenness.”—Jeremiah 24:3

“He said, “What do you see, Amos?” And I said, “A basket of summer fruit.” Then the Lord said to me, “The end has come for My people Israel. I will spare them no longer.”—Amos 8:2

“…being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart…”—Ephesians 4:18

To open blind eyes,
To bring out prisoners from the dungeon
And those who dwell in darkness from the prison.”—Isaiah 42:7

Then the eyes of the blind will be opened
And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.”—Isaiah 35:5

I will lead the blind by a way they do not know,
In paths they do not know I will guide them.
I will make darkness into light before them

And rugged places into plains.
These are the things I will do,
And I will not leave them undone.”—Isaiah 42:16

“And answering him, Jesus said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” And the blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, I want to regain my sight!”—Mark 10:51

“Hear, you deaf!
And look, you blind, that you may see.“—Isaiah 42:18

Then Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored, and he could see everything clearly.”—Mark 8:25

“…one thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.”—John 9:25

Thank You, Lord. ☀️ How You transform our hearts! How You clear it all up! How You give us sight, that we might truly see. And then You teach us…to see from Your heavenly perspective. We don’t need to fear. You cleanse our lens, You purify our hearts, that we may see more and more accurately in YOUR LIGHT. Thank You for this journey with You. 💝

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;”—Proverbs 3:5

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD.”—Isaiah 55:8

“Blessed are the pure in heartfor they will see God.“—Matthew 5:8
