What does it mean to walk in truth and serve God faithfully in the role He's given you? In this message from 3 John, we look at Gaius and John's words of encouragement, then consider how faith shapes the way we live and serve.
The sermon highlights the contrast between Gaius, Diotrephes, and Demetrius, three men whose choices reveal different ways to relate to the church. John celebrates Gaius for walking in truth and caring for fellow believers, while Diotrephes shows the damage caused by a desire for control.
We're reminded that spiritual life should lead us toward the things that strengthen our faith. Our past can be surrendered to Jesus, and our present can be lived in obedience. Whatever our part in the church, whether preaching, praying, welcoming visitors, serving others, or caring for practical needs, we're called to do it faithfully and with all our might, as unto the Lord.
This message also reflects on John's joy in hearing that his spiritual children walk in truth. May it encourage you to discover how God has equipped you to serve, remain faithful in that work, and keep your life centered on Christ.
