Climate Change-Can We Live On This Earth?

I was fortunate to be able to attend the House of Prayer last night and was incredibly blessed.  Psalm 121 was the scripture under consideration.  A familiar passage that has within its text the rich promises from God to protect us by His power if we will set our vision on Him.  With a careful look at this text, you can see a political issue addressed by God's creative power.

Paul warns of those who would preach another gospel.  2 Corinthians 11:3-4 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.  Another gospel that is being preached in our day today is the gospel of the worship of the earth.  Hidden in the Climate Change agenda is the worship of the creation over the creator.

When God’s creative power is talked about in scripture it pinpoints a specific characteristic of God that should be praised.  He is referred to as the creator of heaven and earth.  This alone for the child of God should settle the issue of climate change.  It was God that created the earth, it will be God to declare when the earth is no more.  The damage to the earth was done in Genesis 1 when sin brought about the curse.  Our Lord Jesus said in Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words shall not pass away.  In other words, the earth will not pass away until the Lord says it will pass away.  We even have a timetable of when that will occur.  Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. Our Lord is returning to the earth in the book of Revelation with the title deed to this earth in His hand to claim it back from the curse of sin.

Until that time comes Psalm 121 should guide our thoughts concerning this issue.  Psalm 121:5-6 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The protection of the creative power of God will protect and keep our path secure and even bless the work of our hands with shade against the sun’s harmful rays if our vision is set on Him who dwells on the mountaintops where our help comes from.

Declaring the Word of God into a political issue that has developed into a passionate gospel, that is deceiving people into thinking that somehow we can correct a problem without repentance, is foolishness.  Only God has the power to create, and only God has the power to restore.  It was God that spoke it all into existence, and what God has spoken will stand until God speaks it out of existence.  Until then I’m safe in the hands of the living creative power of His divine protection
