CAN WE TRUST GODS WORD WITH RESPECT TO HUMAN BEHAVIOR?

I’m writing this article in response to a text I read from what I understand to be a well-meaning man who disagrees with what God’s word says about sin. Sin is not a matter of man's opinion or the culture formed by men’s philosophy.  We may attempt to try to understand the reasons why men sin. Some would say that because the homosexual believes he is born that way would excuse him from the consequences of that sin. Some would say that because he believes he is born that way, it is not a sin. But if we believe the Bible, we understand we are all born sinners.  Naming any sin as justified based on being born that way is mishandling the Word of God.

The fact that some sins do not break the law of man does not mean it doesn’t break the law of God. Breaking the law of God violates the holiness of God. Jesus, God’s only Son and the only way to heaven came to earth to die for us and free us from sin.  He didn’t come so we could go on in Sin.  Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? This is the Word of God. You may attempt to interpret these verses to mean something it doesn’t say based on the culture of our society; however, you will be arguing against God. The never-ending attempt to justify sinful behavior outside of repentance and turning away from sin has been the delusion of Satan since the garden of Eden. Homosexuals can be saved.  A saved person can struggle with homosexuality. A saved person can yield to the sin of homosexual behavior.  But according to the written, inspired God-breathed Word, that person will not stay in that behavior.  The Holy Spirit will not allow it.  If they continue in sin, their salvation experience was just a profession and not a possession.

It appears that many who are trying to converge one philosophy that is outside of what God teaches with a Christian profession are merely lining up with what the Anti-Christ will use as the one world religion during the tribulation period.  This is what comes through when attempting to use a political event to justify the sinful behavior of men.  To compare political persuasion with spiritual truth is a dangerous avenue to follow. The Christian has the mandate to regard the truth of God more than political persuasion.  The law of man can never match the law of God.  The law of God was breathed out of holiness.  Some laws of man were written out of the demonic influence of the Anti-Christ.  Acceptance without repentance is a doctrine of seducing spirits and demons.

On the Smith and Rowland show the past Sunday, it was said that we compared a child molester to a homosexual.  If that was what you heard, I apologize.  They are two different sins. Both with different consequences on earth. Both are sins against nature and against God. I agree with you that a child molester should be in jail. But you compared these to those who stormed the capital, revealing that you are drawing close to being more of a political advocate instead of someone embracing the truth of the Word of God.  My political stand and your political stand may be different; however, my political stand will not replace my belief in the truth as yours has.  A political protest can not be compared to sinning against the holiness of God and nature itself.

I believe we need some fundamentalism of Bible truth restored in these days.  I’m sure you will disagree with that.  But consider that preaching against sin at one time was considered in this country as the boundary against anarchy.  Preaching against sinful behavior is a manifestation of the love of God for people.  The tree of life was guarded in the garden to protect Adam and Eve from living forever in their sin.  There will come a time when we have perfect knowledge of all these things. Until then, I will trust the Word of God for my leadership.  You may think me to be narrow-minded concerning the sin of homosexuality. I believe I am loving the homosexual more than you do.  I don’t want the homosexual to live without knowing the freedom Christ brings to their lives and enjoying the real power of God manifested through them.

  • Well said. I posted an exerpt from a sermon by Rev C.H. Spurgeon in 1982 before I read this article. We have grayed the lines significantly, and we do need "fundamenalism of Bible truth restored in these days."
