Changing times with an unchanging God

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. We understand this to mean that in every essence of who Jesus is, He will always be as He forever was. Therefore, the time factor holds no meaning over who Jesus is.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

It is true to say that times have changed. Time has a way of changing everything. Some would say that time has changed things for the good. Others would argue for a simpler time than it was in the past. Still, some are trying desperately to bring the future into the present before its time. Our times become a predominant factor in how we approach life. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that everything has a season. This truth hangs on the principle that our purpose is connected to the season of time we are experiencing. There is a set time to a set purpose. God always delivers a specific purpose that fits the time. The message God delivers is never out of time. Unless we discover the season of time we are in, we will never be able to live out the purpose of God for this time.

I have written before that we have left some things in the past that we need to reclaim now, and while that is true, we also need to remember that the anointing of yesterday will not be adequate for what we face today. I was thinking about what my children and grandchildren face today that I didn’t have to deal with as much when I was their age. The temptations to some things were not as prevalent as they are today. It has created a time where we need an anointing that was here before my childhood. In my youth, it was not unusual for a preacher to preach with passion about specific sins. Now, that is considered out of touch and not in keeping with the love of God. The anointing of the past is now needed to be manifested in the present for people to repent of sin instead of participating in sin and think that God is alright with it.

Our purpose is to declare the message needed for this time in people's lives. The anointing of the Holy Spirit that is needed is a familiar anointing from our past. Seemingly lost in time are the preachers that would preach without apology the whole counsel of the Word of God. A feel-good religion is not meeting the demands of the times. We need to restore the fervent preaching that brings conviction of sin and does not tolerate sin.

The anointing that fell on the worship movement that has carried us through the last 25 years was amazing. We ran into the love of God and experienced God in ways that changed our life. However, it's time now to add to our worship.  We are now in a time that calls out for warriors to rally around the truth of God's Word and declare it with an anointing from the Holy Spirit that comes from the prayers of the people.

So many have become people who honor the Lord with their lips, but their hearts are far from Him. While we raise our hands in worship, people are dying and spending eternity in hell. While our hands are raised, let's raise the standard of our preaching to include the season of time we are in.

God did not create us for a world such as this. We are not to attempt in any way to fit in with the world around us but to come out from them and be different. I believe that these times we are in will bring about a revival that will change the culture.  I believe we will see God move among His people in this time, which will bring about reverence and a love for the truth of the Word.  It will be the preaching of the Word that brings transformation to people's lives.

A new anointing is needed. God give us a place of repentance. God give us a spirit of conviction. God give us instruction on what sin is in our life. God, give us surrender to yield as servants to your kingdom and glory. The God that never changes has already been here before we arrived and has prepared a table before us, ready with every benefit of heaven. Our new anointing is here and is now. We must step into the anointing of the Spirit for this day. May we not fear the people, the world, or Satan, for the Lord that goes before us we lead us into realms of glory as we walk into the anointing of this season for this set purpose.
