God is Moving

What is God doing these days? Has God forgotten us? Does He care that we are being bombarded with false narratives and accusations concerning the issues people are dealing with? Questions like these are being asked by many in the Church. Alan and I just finished a podcast about the United Methodist Church Conference in different states. There are congregations that are disaffiliating from the UMC Conference because of the issue of homosexuality. This is not a new issue, but it is coming to a place where stands must be taken. You can almost feel in your spirit that we are at a time when you can no longer sit on the sidelines of these issues. To those who run from being controversial, you will have no place to run. The decision will need to be made as to who is on the Lord’s side among you, as is said in Exodus 32:26.

I want to declare that among all the social issues we face, God is moving, God has not forgotten us, and He will set the record straight through the power of His Word. The fact that we must debate homosexuality is astounding to me.  However, we see God moving in the churches that have made a stand and said they will agree with the Word of God on this issue, not the opinion of the denomination.  Those congregations who choose not to disaffiliate have violated the truth of the Word of God. Why are these things important?

The Church is the frontline assault against the lies of Satan. The Church is the frontline warrior that should take a stand against a world system that denies the authority and inspiration of the Word of God. The people of God must adopt a unified warring mentality to make a difference.  The statistics are incredible concerning Pastors who deny the authority of the Bible.  Many now deny that Jesus is the only way to heaven. But the other side of this issue is we will find out who is truly choosing Christ and who is a Christ denier. This is a good thing.  We are discovering who loves truth and who would rather agree with a worldly opinion.  Jesus did not come to bring peace but a sword. The move of God is now in separating those who follow Him from those who do not. We may be surprised by the choices of those we know very well.

If, in fact, these social issues, which are spiritual issues, are any indication, then we are going to learn that God has many who have not bowed to the world’s Babylonian philosophy. There are those who are ready and willing to follow the Word without apology. There are those who will compromise truth for the sake of acceptance by society. This is how God is moving in these days. There is a gathering of the outcasts taking place. Christ is forming His body to express His holiness and truth on the earth.

My eyes have yet to see what God is forming in me. My ears are yet to hear all the revelation that the Holy Spirit wants to speak to and in me. My heart cannot imagine what it will be like to come into the fullness of Christ in me, the hope of glory. I’m on a journey of discovering what God is forming in me. What God is forming is connected to the revelation of the Holy Spirit and the fullness of Christ.

The journey leads us to an ultimate destination, and we are almost home. I love the old song's lyrics, “I can almost see the lights of that city.” We’re not home yet, but we’re so close that the lights shine a little brighter for those who follow Christ.

  • I saw an interview of Pope Francis and one of the questions to him was what he thought about homosexuals coming to the church. His response was "If a homosexual is seeking the Lord, who am I to judge him." Nothing about abandoning natural relations in Romans 1.
