It is so Dark, I can finally See

It has been the experience of those who have lost one of their senses that the other senses seem more sensitive.  For example, those who lose sight have a heightened sense of hearing.  This is so interesting to me in the realm of the spirit.  The Bible talks much about the senses in terms of the spirit. Jesus says, He that hath ears, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church.

It's amazing when two people see the same thing but give witness to two different things that they both saw.  One would be looking through the eyes of flesh; the other would be looking through the eyes of the spirit.  1 Corinthians 2:9-10 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. This reveals to us that there are some things that can only be seen through the eyes of the Spirit.

When we think of God and His character, we refer to certain terms like light.  Indeed, we are told that we have been called out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9).  We refer to His kingdom as the kingdom of light.  We know that light will dispel darkness.  So many references to the term light as it is associated with God.  However, the Old Testament references God dwelling in the thick darkness.  2 Chronicles 6:1 Then said Solomon, The LORD hath said that he would dwell in the thick darkness. Moses referred to the same thing in Deuteronomy 5:22 These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.

Believe it or not, the darkness that prevails over the earth has been hard for some to see. Some look at it and don’t see much wrong with the darkness. We try and shine our light of reasoning or political correctness into a dark area and tolerate it.  Some even call the darkness light. For some time now, the Church has been playing in darkness.  We have left the preaching of the cross and the simple plan of salvation for a more enlightened gospel of toleration and acceptance without repentance.  We have left the ways of true worship for a more acceptable environment of performance.  Some are even so mesmerized by the darkness that they would now discount what I’m saying as out-of-touch and old-fashioned.

I would like to declare that God speaks even through the darkness. I’m becoming aware that it’s become so dark that I can finally see. The darkness is so intense that people no longer know who they are.  They can’t see if they are a boy or a girl.  Some think they may even be an animal.  Because of that darkness, I can finally see that the coming of our Lord is nearer than when I first believed.

Isa 8:19-22 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?  To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward. And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness. An exposition of this scripture would not be appropriate for just a short article. However, to the one who can hear, let them hear what the Spirit is saying to us through this passage.

Those truly following Christ can see clearly through the darkness, even with greater clarity.  God sometimes turns the lights off so we can see.  I would love to make the declaration that the light is fixing to shine again.  The morning is ready for dawn, and the night will be over.  We need to arise and see.  We need to wake up and hear.  We need to lift our hands and feel.  We need to smell the fragrance of the presence of our God as He shouts from the fire, the clouds, and the thick darkness that this earth belongs to Him and His children will reign with Him forever.
